  • Welfare services will be available during operational hours of the live event, and Medical services are available 24/7 for the duration of the live event. Signage across the site makes these areas easy to locate and teams are briefed to provide non-judgemental, confidential support.

  • All relevant UK laws regarding the possession and supply of controlled substances apply within the festival site.

GemFest does not tolerate the use or supply of illegal drugs, new psychoactive substances (NPS), nitrous oxide, or the misuse of prescription drugs. From November 2023, nitrous oxide (NOS) is a Class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and as such, possession or supply may result in arrest or prosecution.

Essential prescription medication is permitted under strict conditions. See our section 2.2 for full details.

All ticket holders will be subject to searches at the point of entry. This includes bag checks, pocket-emptying and the use of handheld metal detector wands where appropriate. Assero Security are highly trained and experienced, and these checks will be conducted professionally and respectfully.

Any person refusing to be searched will be refused entry to the event, as per our Ticket Terms and Conditions which are made publicly available on our website.

We will operate multiple amnesty bins near the queue lanes, which will be available for individuals to surrender any prohibited items before passing through security. They will be placed in a position where opportunity is given to discreetly discard any contraband.

These bins will be bright red wheelie bins, with clear signage explaining the disposal policy. They will be locked to a fixed post or will be manned constantly by SIA security during the operational hours of the main gate.

The amnesty bins will be emptied each day once the main gate closes, and any contraband will be logged, bagged and securely stored in the designated drug safe.

If a person is found in possession of prohibited substances at the point of entry, they will be subject to an enhanced search. They will be escorted to a private area (a designated marquee beside the main gate), where an enhanced search will be conducted by security personnel. This may include checking the waistband of trousers, all pockets, removal of shoes, sock soles, etc., but security staff are not permitted to request the removal of clothing. This will be recorded on a body-worn camera for security purposes.

The quantity and type of substance found will be assessed by security to determine whether it should be classed as personal possession or intent to supply. The individual's details will be recorded, and the substance will be logged, bagged and securely stored in the designated drug safe.

The individual will then be refused entry to the event.

If the quantity is deemed to be intent to supply, then the individual will be detained and the Police will be called to deal with the matter.

If a person is spotted in possession of prohibited substances during the event, they will be approached by a member of the security team and will be subject to an immediate search. If their behaviour, the quantity or the way the substances are packaged suggests they may be attempting to supply drugs, they will be escorted to the enhanced search area for a more thorough search.

The individual will be ejected in line with the Ejection Policy, Appendix 6.16, have their wristband snipped and in cases where intent to supply is suspected, they will be detained on site, and the Police will be called.

Gemfestival Ltd will liaise and coordinate a collection period for Police to collect all confiscated substances found either daily or post event.

CCTV will be available on-site, and body-worn cameras (BWC) will be worn by members of the security team. Security will work closely with Event Control to monitor activity, deter and prevent drug dealing, and respond appropriately to any related incidents. All footage is handled in accordance with GDPR and may be used to support enforcement or safeguarding actions where necessary.

Suspicious behaviour, including suspected drug use or dealing, will be taken seriously. We encourage all attendees to report concerns to any steward, security team member, member of event management or the welfare team. All reports will be handled discreetly and followed up where necessary.

GemFest is committed to maintaining a safe, legal and supportive environment for all attendees, staff and contractors.

  • Showers will be available on-site, but only to customers who purchase a VIP upgrade.
