Pedz Plan: Couch to Ironman

TRAIN LIKE PEDZ

If you think achieving a triathlon, marathon or other major sporting event isn’t feasible for you because of your size or fitness – then you’re exactly where I was 9 months ago…

My inbox has been flooded ever since I completed the Iron Man 70.3 Swansea a few weeks ago – and as I gear up for my next challenge I’ve decided to share my course of how I got here so you can go on your own Couch to Iron Man journey.

  • The Pedz Plan is a realistic training program for ambitious people who aren’t currently in shape.

It’s a fully directed, hands on training program that takes you from couch potato to Ironman – with hands on guidance from myself, Pedz.

  • Honestly butt, there isn’t an Ironman plan about for someone like you or me. Trust me, I’ve looked.

Most uber fit triathlon trainers don’t have any experience training someone completely untrained – frankly, why would they? Not many people at my size would bite off a major event like that.

  • This is the training plan I followed to go from a 140kg party animal to an Ironman in just 9 months. Trust me, if I could do it, you can too.

I’ll be completely hands on, accessible to you at all times via regular catch up’s and direct message to hold you account and provide real experience from someone who just completed this program.

  • First and foremost, you’re committing to changing your life.

When I look back at who I was 9 months ago, I’m entirely unrecognisable – and if it hadn’t been for this plan custom built by my coach Evan, I would never have been able to cross that finish line in Swansea.

  • Here is a list of everything you need to start! The programme starts on 3rd August so gives you plenty of time to sort everything below out!

    • Swimming Goggles

    • Access to a swimming pool (ideally 25 metre)

    • Access to a stationary bike (watt bike or concept 2)

    • Running shoes

  • Click the button to get taken to the course sign up page now.

Once you sign up, you can cancel at any time – you’re not locked in past each month – much better than a normal gym or PT subscription.

Once you’ve signed up to the Pedz Plan, you’ll be directed to our Discord page where all the info for the plan is stored in detail.

You’ll be able to interact with me directly – your plan will start the following day.

My story: I was 23 stone… now I’m an Ironman

I’ve always been a big boy…

Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been bigger than all my mates. And whilst I was a class tight head prop for Swansea Uni RFC (uppa swans), athletics has never been my forté. Once I’d stopped doing all my sport and focused on my music & DJing, the weight piled on – so when I signed up for an Ironman, everyone thought I was insane…

TEENAGE YEARS

I was always bigger than other kids – gained weight easier and struggled to run it off like the others could.

It never bothered me at this age – if anything it was an advantage for rugby.

RUGBY AT SWANS UNI

By the time I was 18 I was playing for Swansea Uni Rugby in the Welsh semi-pro league

I was cruising at 120kg by this point – let’s just say a triathlon wasn’t on my mind in the scrum

EVENTS & MUSIC

Alongside rugby, I loved house music & events and after dropping out of uni to pursue a full time job in events, the rugby left me…

The boozing and party lifestyle combined with my appetite led me to pile it on…

ROCK BOTTOM

I think this photo is the heaviest I’ve ever been – I was DJing for Red Bull at a sports event. Can’t believe the size of me looking back

I know now I’ll never end up back at this weight.

TRAINING BEGINS

I began running up the Newport valleys where I’m from with the boys who helped me train and kept me accountable

It wasn’t just training my body – it was training my mindset. I needed to believe the impossible was possible

CAME INTO MY OWN

The first 3 months were hell, but as I committed and improve I started to come into my own…

Still, nothing could have prepared me for the actual race day…
